A Bit About Me

Mabuhay, everyone! My name is Vanessa Morada, but my friends call me Van or Vanessa. I live in Bacoor, Cavite, together with my family and our nine cats. In Thailand, the teachers call me Wani, and my students call me Teacher Wanissa, or hilariously, Teacher Banana!
At 21 years old, I am a third-year English major at De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. My beliefs and principles play a significant role in who I am. I am part of the Lasalyanong Katekista ministry in our church, where we share the word of God with children and organize outreach programs at transformation centers such as Bahay Tuluyan and Bahay Pag-asa. You wouldn't believe the fulfillment I felt when there was a time when I helped a student write her name or when a student gave me a handmade bracelet. It's moments like this that bring me the utmost happiness. I am not limited to my assigned ministry, but I also got the chance to lend a hand in designing and producing church events, even getting the chance to sing and perform live on stage. Both the church and the university really pushed and molded the person I am today. I overcame my fears, and I broke out of my shell. My university’s tagline, “creating possibilities,” became my echo during my journey as an exchange student in Udon Thani, Thailand.
This is Me

How did I get to Education?
Believe It or not, I shifted from Pharmacy to Education. So why did I choose to shift? Before, I thought college was like high school; I thought everything would flow smoothly. So, as I was flowing with college during the pandemic... boom! I hit a massive rock. I could not get off this rock. I was lost and I was scared to jump back again into the waters because I was not sure where I would be headed. I don’t have any fixed plans for my future.
Hence, I stopped for one semester, during those times I really reflected on what I wanted to do. These thoughts led to my senior high school experience where I got to do a storytelling for children. In that moment, I felt so happy and excited. It was the first time that I felt a sense of fulfillment. My parents were really supportive of my education. For the first time in my life, I got the chance to decide what I really wanted to do. I never really got to seriously decide on my own growing up, so it was a major decision. I am happy that I chose education, that I finally found my path.
