My Thai students call me Teacher Vanessa (Vanessa as in Butterfly!) or Teacher Wannisa (They even gave me a Thai name!), hilariously sometimes Teaaaaaacher Banana!

I never liked my smile; it made lines on my face that made me feel unattractive. However, my journey as a pre-service student teacher in Udon Thani, Thailand for one month changed this entire perspective. Behind the wide smile that you will stumble upon my blog is the magical and fulfilling connection I had with the locals, teachers, and especially with my students that transcended language barriers.
